Friendship Week
The lead up to Christmas is such a busy time in schools but in Dangan, we like to remember the importance of kindness and friendship. Each year, we have a special week in the lead-up to the holidays where we celebrate friendship and work to make new ones. The students have an opportunity to work with children in other classes and to share in fun activities.
This year, we ran our shared reading day where each child brought in their favourite book to share with a friend from another class. 5th and 6th worked with 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th worked with Junior and Senior Infants. The children really enjoyed chatting to each other and the older children loved reading to the younger ones. There were some great book recommendations going back and forth and the children got to know each other a little better.
Board games have been very popular in Dangan this year and friendship week was a perfect chance for the children to share their favourites with children in other classes. From Snakes and Ladders and Chess to newer games like 5 Second Rule and Pigs on Trampolines, the children had a wonderful time testing these out and teaching each other the rules.
Well done to the children for making friendship week such a success and for showing kindness, patience and fair play.
