Policies

Our school policies are the formal documents that guide the actions of all individuals within our school community, including staff, pupils, parents, and volunteers. They are essential for ensuring the well-being, safety, and effective education of all pupils, providing a clear framework and common understanding of how our school operates and what is expected in various circumstances.

These "living" documents are regularly reviewed by the Board of Management in consultation with staff and parents to ensure they remain relevant, meet the needs of our community, and comply with all legal requirements and best practices.

Please explore the links below to familiarise yourself with our key policies.

  • In Ireland, every primary school is legally required under Section 23 of the Education (Welfare) Act 2000 to maintain a Code of Behaviour. This document serves as the school’s formal plan for fostering a safe, respectful environment that supports both learning and teaching.

  • "Bí Cineálta" is the Department of Education's updated framework for preventing and addressing bullying behaviour in our schools. The name itself, meaning "Be Kind" in Irish, underpins our entire approach: we are committed to fostering an inclusive, kind, and respectful environment where every member of the school community feels safe, valued, and happy.

Our school community—pupils, staff, parents/guardians, and management—has a shared responsibility to work together to prevent and address bullying behaviour and deal with its negative impact. We recognise that the wellbeing of our pupils is at the forefront of everything we do.

This policy aligns with the national Cineáltas: Action Plan on Bullying and sets out clear procedures for promoting positive relationships and addressing any incidents of bullying behaviour, whether offline or online.

  • Our school is committed to the highest standards of care and protection for all pupils, ensuring their well-being, safety, and welfare is the paramount consideration at all times. We believe that every child has a right to be safe from harm, and our entire school community—staff, Board of Management, parents, and volunteers—shares a commitment to fostering a safe and caring environment.

This commitment is underpinned by our statutory obligations under the Children First Act 2015 and the Department of Education's robust Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post-Primary Schools.
